Version 1
I joined the party because the pirate party was the only party to talk about subject that I found very important. I stayed because I met people that were like-minded.
Version 2
I did not joined «The Party», I join the «pirate culture» or «the pirate movement». I do not believe that my energy have to be used to «gain elections» but to encourage and support those who wants it. If «really» necessary.
Version 3
I adhere to the principles and rules of Pirate Party, I want to encourage progress and live in an open society.
Version 4
Initially because the Basic Income idea intrigued me and I tried to figure it what it could and could not solve and whether it was economically feasible. Afterwards it became apparent that an Unconditional Basic Income is financially no problem and is a catalyst for many other ideas, that it inherently changes politics and could together with open source movements and better legislation open the way to new democracy. It makes sense to contribute and it is just fun and interesting also.
All of the somewhat younger generation envisioned the possibilities with technology for the future more advanced and differently than they are today and are disappointed in everything politics. Instead of trying to ignore the system by creating our own transitionary systems like repair cafés, providing our own energy bypassing the electrical grid, creating own systems that provide a basic income, … that are at least twice as difficult to realize, we can at least try to change the system. The Pirate Party offers the opportunity to change course.
