= Pirate Lab : Prepare the local elections 2018 = == About this meeting == Pirate Labs can be seen as incubators for pirate projects. This is the perfect place for people to propose their ideas and to launch new projects. The theme of this lab is : Prepare the local elections 2018. If you have ideas of projects, or want to help other projects on this topic, please do come! We will use the meeting guidelines proposed by the internal democracy group. Please have a look at them before coming to the lab :) == To-do list == * Confirm venue == Social networks == Even created on Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/events/1655916007811994 == Preparation == Lab starts at 2 pm. For those who want to lunch together before the lab, they can coordinate on the following pad: https://pad.pirateparty.be/p/Piratelab2017-September Suggestions for the agenda happen on this pad. We strongly advise you to read the pad before coming to this lab! == Reporting == Provided at the end of the meeting by the sub-groups. === Overview === Meeting started at 14h13 and ended around 17h45. 8 people were present (out of which none had really asked for the "election" theme...). 4 main topics were discussed in two rounds in subgroups : * Citizen lists * How to propose realistic policies ? and how to fuck facebook ? * Communication to the outside : why we join citizen lists * NothingToHide's projection Next lab will be in Gembloux, on 28th October 2017, at 2pm. We decided that there won't be a predefined theme for next lab. However, we should communicate more on the suggestions for the agenda (e.g. "Josse will be present to talk about the GA"). === Citizen lists === The question was : "When is it worth to join a list as pirate party?". And the answer in a nutshell is: "When it's a true citizen list". A citizen list is for people, building a network of people with different backgrounds --> the methodology of the group is of prime importance, as it has to work by the example. The list must be inclusive, kept open, with all having a (equal) say. Transparency is mandatory to enable participation. The list also needs full independence from traditional parties, free from interference. As a guide, check the "open maturity model". Important to think about: * What is the link between the elected pirate person of the citizen list and the pirate party? what is the priority? * How much time may be spent on what after the (non-)election? * We must be ready to make mistakes... so that we can learn from them. === How to propose realistic policies ? and how to fuck facebook ? === Those are the notes of this subgroup, because nobody worked on the reporting. Don't hesitate to improve this section ! ==== Individual behaviour ==== * Leave it? Facebook is a promotion tool, every other use (comment, chat, pictures...) should be avoided and replaced in FB by a link to another service. * Propose something funnier * Timing's the key. Use the high level of noise on Facebook to suggest another tool when people start expressing their frustration to waste too much time on FB. * https://wiki.pirateparty.be/File:Pirate-cat.svg 😻 ==== Realistic ideas we could put forward ==== * G1000? * Transparency in the decision process === Communication to the outside : why we join citizen lists === Those are the notes of this subgroup, because nobody worked on the reporting. Don't hesitate to improve this section ! Pirate Certified? * it is already important to have a map/article on the website (press release is more work) * The press release on national level should have a positive message, not a : *: Why we don't participate *: but *: We encourage everyone to join one of our lists or a citizen list * Important idea: Provincials as a way to the national * movement <-> party discussion -> It would good to have Julia on our national level ** As a political group we allow too much liberty? ** pirates on the communal elections --> Loomio === NothingToHide's projection === We discussed about the idea of projecting a documentary (NothingToHide) about mass-surveillance and privacy/intimacy in the digital era. There is a pad (in french) for the coordination : https://pad.pirateparty.be/p/nothingtohide As the documentary is a bit long (1:30), we decided to have a debate on the week following the projection. For instance, in Louvain-la-Neuve we could organize a "Débat sans conférence" on the documentary's topic. We could also have a Q&A session and a drink after the screening. The documentary proposes some solutions at the end to protect one's privacy on the internet. An idea would be to provide a small guide to protect their privacy (e.g. Greg's manual, see the project Guiding activists to protect their privacy on the web) Regarding the communication, we need: * a room (where ?) * a projector ?, flyers ?, posters ? (how ?) ** see http://www.filmsforaction.org/startcity/ to help create the flyers and posters * Idea: create a pad with practical details, where people can register themselves. Screening in schools: the teachers could be the entry point for the schools.
